How I Started FencingMariel started fencing at age 10 in foil. She began fencing because her brother was in the sport.
Did You Know Mariel has played soccer since age 5. She played on state select teams and was one of two freshman selected at her high school to play on the varsity squad. Mariel was the only freshman in the city to earn All City Second League recognition.
Mariel holds the record for medals in junior and cadet world cup championships (8).
Mariel’s parents were Olympians, as well.
Mariel’s brother is also a nationally-ranked fencer, ranked 18th in the country.
